Tesserae paintings
The paintings in my Tesserae series are created by deconstructing simple linear encaustic paintings into many small unique tiles. These tiles come together into one unified altered image of flowing lines, engaging color, and geometric shapes. Layering the tiles supplements the sense of visual rhythm, creating a surface that is both active and restful. The tight spatial relationships of the repetitive patterns result in a soothing composition.
